Please join the Coochiemudlo Island Heritage Society for a heritage walk with the knowledgeable and entertaining David Paxton on Saturday the 21st of October.
The walk will commence and conclude at the Community Hall on Coochiemudlo Island.
The walk will not be difficult. David will adjust the walk according to the needs and capabilities of those who are with us. If you have friends off the island, this would be a great opportunity for them to come and see some of the highlights and history of Coochiemudlo Island. (See recommendations for walkers.)
The walk will focus on two aspects of the work of the Coochiemudlo Island Heritage Society and our:
settler heritage, particularly the visible signs and stories of the Morton family
wonderful mangroves on the western shore.
Start time: 9:30am (promptly) before the day gets too hot.
Finish time: Between 10.30 – 11.00am
Morning tea will be available on our return to the Community Hall, and our History Room will be open for viewing.
This is a free event for members, residents and visitors to our island.
Donations will be gratefully accepted.
Recommendations for participants:
A hat and walking shoes (preferably enclosed) are essential, along with an adventurous spirit and an enquiring mind!
Insect repellent and sunscreen recommended.
Water bottle if you wish, although it is not a long walk.
If you have a great camera, better than your phone, it might be worth carrying it.
We look forward to your company!
