On the morning of Saturday 18 July, residents of Coochiemudlo Island continue the tradition of re-enacting the historic landing of Matthew Flinders on the island.

The re-enactment provides education through entertainment — lots of fun!

Hear, firsthand, about the journey, the challenges, and the passion behind her work over the years to preserve and enhance this unique piece of our island’s heritage.

We’ve organised a terrific event for you to learn more about our bay environment: an information session with the Moreton Bay Marine Park Duty Ranger, Wayne Matthews.

You’ll also hear from Coochie’s turtle stranding team, Coastcare, and the Heritage Society who is hosting the event.

We’re thrilled to have José Garcia join us for this event at the Rec Club. José is a talented musician and island resident who has been entertaining us for years now with his musicianship — beautiful voice and guitar.

Tour guide David Paxton will take us on this walk from the jetty around the south-east portion of Coochiemudlo Island. Organised the Heritage Society.
